Cohn draws on his education and corporate experience to meet his responsibilities as CEO and president of AbsoluteCARE, a patient-centered ambulatory ICU medical facility.

Patient-centered care is a health care approach that’s both responsive and respectful to the preferences, beliefs, and needs of the patient, ensuring that all treatment decisions consider patient values. Reactive care is where treatment happens only after a patient becomes ill–as opposed to preventing the illness. There are several key issues that need to be considered in order to successfully move away from reactive care, including improving patients’ access to health care, coordination of care among providers, and improving patients’ level of comfort using technology.

Improving the doctor-patient relationship, while reducing the amount of testing, hospitalizations, and prescriptions (all aspects of patient-centered care), has been shown to improve a patient’s clinical outcomes and satisfaction rates. Patient-centered care is effective for all disease types and can be adopted by providers in any medical specialty.
